Grants awarded annually
The Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation awards annual grants for scientific research. The foundation awards grants primarily to postdoctoral researchers and for the completion of doctoral theses for doctoral candidates. The open call is annually January to February.
Supported fields of science and research
The purpose of the foundation is to promote scientific research and literature. Grants will not be awarded to medical or technical sciences, nor the fields covered by the Magnus Ehrnrooth Foundation, i.e. mathematics, physics and chemistry (including biochemistry and medical chemistry).
Grant decisions and payment date
Grant decisions will be made at the latest in early June. Grants will be paid out, beginning in June. The names of grant recipients, research topics and amounts of grants are published on the foundation's website.
Allocation criteria
When applying for a grant, please follow the instructions below. In particular, please note the following general principles:

Grants are awarded for full-time research or close to full time research only.

Young researchers are prioritized.

The foundation does not award grants for larger research projects through the open call in January to February.

The grant is primarily awarded to applicants who have already completed their PhD and for doctoral candidates in the final phase.

A statement of a grant applied for or obtained elsewhere for the same research must be attached.

Grants are not awarded for congress travel or for the purchase of equipment and supplies.

Grants will be awarded only to applicants who do not receive a "researcher salary".
